DAMON HERRING, Associate

Damon Herring joined Moule & Polyzoides in 2000 with more than 15 years of diverse architectural experience that includes higher education, historic preservation, residential, and LEED projects. He received his Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Oklahoma in 1988 and is a member of the Los Angeles Conservancy, Pasadena Heritage, and the National Trust for Historic Preservation.

Mr. Herring is currently working on a new athletic facility and pool for Scripps College in Claremont. Now under construction, the project includes a 23,000-square foot athletic center, outdoor pool for competitive swimming, and a soccer playing field over a new parking deck. He has also been project manager for the 115,000-square-foot, $18 million Vista del Arroyo project in Pasadena which comprises the restoration of eight historic 1920s-era Spanish Revival bungalows and the design and construction of three new courtyard buildings—a total of 35 residential units over a fully subterranean parking garage.

Mr. Herring is also managing the design of a LEED Silver 70-room luxury hotel in West Hollywood, a mixed-use project that includes retail, new restaurants and bars, an outdoor swimming pool and eight luxury condominium penthouse units over a two-level subterranean garage.

Prior to joining Moule & Polyzoides, Mr. Herring spent several years producing and coordinating documents for a $150 million renovation of the original Getty Museum in Malibu, focusing on the 95,000 square foot, three-story Museum along with additions and renovations to the original Getty Residence, which now houses a new research library and scholars’ offices. An entrance pavilion, outdoor amphitheater, bookstore, café, underground auditorium, and a parking structure were also constructed.

Prior to the Getty, Mr. Herring worked on renovation of the Johns Hopkins Hospital and Medical Campus in Baltimore. The project included complete building surveys and documentation, new disabled access recommendations and enhancement of the current facilities management by implementation of a dedicated computer system.

Other institutional projects include complete survey and documentation of an existing nine-story building for the FBI Headquarters Building in Washington, D.C. as well as building surveys, documentation, renovations and accessibility modifications for the United State Postal Service in the State of Maryland.
