ORLANDO GONZÁLEZ
Orlando González received a Bachelor of Architecture degree from the University of Notre Dame in 2001, twice winning the school's prestigious Andrew F. Kervick Award for design and drawing. He joined Moule & Polyzoides in 2001 and has worked on a variety of urban design and architecture projects both as a designer and as project manager and he takes a leadership role in many of the firm’s on-site design charrettes. His experience has included engagement in a wide variety of aspects of the firm's planning work, from preservation policies to urban codes.
Mr. González’s current and recent urban design assignments include town plans in a variety of settings, including a new town in Saudi Arabia; an old world, mixed-use seaside village in Anguilla; an urban infill project for the mature community of Santa Ana, California; and a master plan and form-based code for the River North district of San Antonio. Mr. González played a key role in the post-Katrina Reconstruction Plan for Biloxi charrette which resulted in an extensive strategy to rebuild the gulf seaport’s critically damaged urban fabric. Mr. González also served primary design roles in the firm's campus master planning and sustainability work at Pomona College in Claremont, California and New College of Florida in Sarasota, Florida.
Recent architectural experience includes Sunset Harper, a mixed-use hotel and condominium project in Hollywood; the La Peer Luxury Boutique Hotel in West Hollywood, which incorporates private residences as well as high-end retail and restaurants; and a mixed-use development in downtown Glendale, California.
Active in his community, Mr. González volunteers as a teacher and mentor for Aztlán Mexica Nation, an organization committed to the study and understanding of Mexican heritage and indigenous traditions.
