Santa Ana Transit Zoning Code Receives 2012 Driehaus Form-Based Code Award

The Transit Zoning Code from the Santa Ana Renaissance Specific Plan has been recognized with a Richard H. Driehaus Charitable Lead Trust Form-Based Codes Award. The jury praised it for focussing on "the subtleties of building placement, massing, building and frontage types for an existing 457-acre community," for illusrating "many examples for best practices for the ‘missing middle’ of the transect" and "providing a set of tools for the community as it evolves." The jury also noted the code's excellent visual presentation, describing it as "well-organized, clear and easy to use.

The award will be formally presented at an intensive session at CNU 20 in West Palm Beach, Florida on Friday, May 11th. The session will include an-depth discussion of the code, with presentations by the jurors and code representatives, along with time for questions and comments by attendees.
