Stefanos served on the jury for the Pasadena Armenian Genocide Memorial, which selected a submission by Art Center College of Design student Catherine Menard. Menard’s minimalist design is composed of a stone basin of water straddled by a tripod formed from three leaning columns. A single drop of water falls from the highest point every three seconds, each representing a teardrop for one life lost. Over the course of a year, 1.5 million tears will fall into the pool, the estimated number of victims of the Armenian Genocide. Moule & Polyzoides has been named Executive Architect for the project and will work with Ms Menard to realize her concept, which is to be sited in Pasadena’s Memorial Park. Groundbreaking is slated for 2014, with completion and dedication of the Memorial scheduled for April 24, 2015.
