Provence Midtown is a mile-square new town located between the cities of Zhengzhou and Kaifeng in central China along the regional highway connecting the two. The town consists of a regional commercial center, hospital and office park along the highway, with three neighborhoods located behind them.
The central neighborhood centers on a large park surrounded by towers and mid-rise buildings which form a continuous fabric around the public green. The east and west neighborhoods each straddle a river and are composed of various precincts, each containing a mix of courts, townhouses and duplexes. The various precincts are secured at the edges, with streets, paths and greens allowing free access througout. A luxury hotel is also planned east of the central neighborhood.
Our work included the introduction of new transportation, open space and housing type standards and their coordination into a traditional urbanist scheme. The entire project will be completed within seven years.
