In bestowing the award, the Congress for the New Urbanism called Hotel Plaza la Reina “a welcome respite from the many large-scale buildings that have sprung up in the Westwood Village neighborhood in recent years,” and said that the project offers “a new model that respects the character and local architecture—while still providing density and mixed-use as appropriate to the location near transit.”
