Fair Oaks Court

Pasadena, California

Client: Heritage Housing Partners

This affordable housing project combines classic bungalow style with courtyard housing in one of Pasadena’s older pedestrian-oriented neighborhoods. The project includes 31 new townhouses and apartments ranging from one to four bedrooms. Eight existing houses were also renovated and a new community room provided as part of the project. The density of 23 units per acre offers a sense of community plus generous open spaces. Many of the site’s mature trees were preserved; along with two courtyards, a large green, and other open space, the project engenders a strong garden character. All units are entered via ground floor porches that offer front-door identity and immediate connection to the outdoors, whether front yard, courtyard or green. One level of subterranean parking with 84 parking spaces serves residents and visitors.
